Updates

:

Individuals who apply to become a coach, assistant coach, or employee with the Minnesota Bulldogs AAU Basketball program may not have engaged in any actions which, at the discretion of the Minnesota Bulldogs’ management staff or their representative, give rise to concerns over the safety of minors or others involved in Minnesota Bulldogs-sponsored programs; indicate that the applicant cannot objectively perform the duties of a coach/employee; or are otherwise inconsistent with the Minnesota Bulldogs’ responsibilities to its participants or the parents of participants.

All coaches/employees who apply to become a Minnesota Bulldogs coach/employee must submit to a background check. Background checks will be conducted on all coaches/employees prior to completing their registration for any sport or employment, and thereafter annually on all new coaches/employees. This background check will verify the applicant’s Social Security number, address history, and screen their criminal conviction history.

To become or continue as a coach/employee for the Minnesota Bulldogs, the applicant must not have been convicted of a felony crime involving:

a) a minor at any time
b) the use, possession, or sale of a controlled substance within the last 10 years
c) the use or threatened use of violence against a person within the last 10 years
d) a sexual offense within the last 10 years
e) gambling within the last 10 years
f) fraud, theft, money laundering, embezzlement within the last 10 years

Any previous convictions meeting the above criteria shall result in the denial of registration/employment. This denial may be waived by the Minnesota Bulldogs management staff in individual cases if it determines, in its sole discretion, that there exist circumstances justifying such a waiver or modification. Upon receipt of information that indicates an applicant will be denied registration or employment, a pre-adverse action letter will be sent to the applicant, along with a copy of the screening report. The applicant will have 10 calendar days in which to contest any information that is inaccurate or incomplete. After 10 calendar days, the information will be deemed accurate, and an adverse action letter will be sent, notifying the applicant that their request to be a Minnesota Bulldogs coach/employee has been denied.

Background Check Process

• This process takes about 2 minutes to complete.

• You will receive an email from TransUnion Shareable For Hires with a request for permission to access your background information.

• If you agree, click “Accept Request.”

• You will be directed to TransUnion’s website where you will be asked to create an account.

• Please use your full first, middle, last name when creating your account.

• You will be asked to enter your Social Security Number, Date of Birth, and current home address.

• At no point will the Minnesota Bulldogs be able to see your Social Security Number

• You will be asked a few questions to verify your identity.

• Click “Verify Identity.”

• You will receive a message confirming you are done. You will be able to view your own report using the Shareable account that you created.

News and Core Values

Basketball Game

First and foremost, The Minnesota Bulldogs we will continue to abide by all guidelines and restrictions set forth by the government.

Please click Return to Play Plan to view the detailed plan.

Minnesota Bulldogs Core Values:

1) Appreciation
It is a blessing to be talented enough to have the opportunity
to play basketball. Be enthusiastic and grateful about that opportunity every day. You are always in control of your effort and
attitude!

2) Teammate
To become the best team we can be, everyone must “get over
themselves!” There is no room for personal agendas. “WE” must
come before “me.”

3) Work Ethic
The storied tradition of The Minnesota Bulldogs has been built
because of the work ethic of the student-athletes, coaches, and
parents. We earn the right to win games with hard work, plain
and simple. What justifiable reason is there for letting someone outwork us?

4) Toughness
Tough players are defined by the ability to handle adversity in
a positive manner, mentally and physically. Tough players keep
good body language and have the WILL TO SUCCEED.

5) Accountability
Part of having coaches and teammates that genuinely love and
care about you as a person (and not just as a basketball player)
is being held accountable. The most successful people in life
are willing to be held accountable for their actions!

ERIC COLEMAN

Former MN Bulldog News

Former Bulldog Zach Towle joins Garden City Community College after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant under Dewey at Otero. There, he helped the Rattlers finish 25-7 during the 2019-20 season, which included a No. 4 national ranking-the highest in school history. "Over the last two years that we've worked together, I've noticed how good of a job he does at building relationships with players," Dewey added. "That, to me, is what makes him so valuable." Before landing in La Junta, CO, Towle was an assistant at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, MO, where the Cardinals went 23-9 and made it to the Region Championship Game. Prior to that, he spent four seasons as a player-development coach and recruiting coordinator at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Neb, punching out a pair of 20-win campaigns. He also has roots on the summer circuit, coaching Amateur Athletic Union for three years. "He's won at every level," Dewey explained. "We have the same type of basketball vision."

As a player, Towle was a four-year starter at Concordia Academy, becoming one of the best three-point shooters in the state. He is one of the career leaders in Minnesota history in triples made and scored more than 2,500 points. He received his associate degree from Northeast Community College, and his Bachelor's from Ashford University. Then in 2018, Towle earned his Master of Business Administration from Ashford.
